FC Sion followed up their successful start to the season in Vaduz last Sunday with a perfect performance. In front of a crowd of over 9,000 at Tourbillon, Didier Tholot's men controlled the game against FC Aarau to win 1-0. The Sédunois will attempt to make it three wins out of three next Friday when they host Bellinzona.

At kick-off, Didier Tholot fielded exactly the same XI that had won the opening matchday in Liechtenstein. From the very first minutes, the Valaisans took control of the game and put pressure on their opponents. That pressure led to the first chance of the game when Chouaref collected the ball high up the pitch. Unfortunately, the No7 lost his duel with the Aargau goalkeeper. But that was all it took to fire the Tourbillon crowd into raptures. Finally, the opening goal came in the 21st minute. After Bouchlarhem had been fouled on the edge of the area, Reto Ziegler curled home an absolutely magnificent free-kick. It was already the Valais captain's second goal of the season.

At the start of the second half, Sédun had two more chances through Théo Bouchlarhem and Baltazar Costa's header. Unfortunately, the breakthrough was not made, which could have given Aarau hope. Shortly after the hour mark, Timothy Fayulu pulled off the only save of the night from Schwegler's free-kick. Having led by just one goal, FC Sion began to find it harder to control the game. This had no impact on the final result. Despite this slight setback, Didier Tholot's men were able to celebrate another win in front of their home fans. A symbol of the revival at the start of the season.

Last night, FC Sion and their supporters enjoyed a wonderful evening, and there is bound to be more to come. The fans proved to their players that they are still there, despite relegation at the end of a complicated season. The next fixture in Tourbillon is next Friday's home game against AC Bellinzona (8.15pm). Tickets are already on sale HERE!
