A week after their success in Neuchâtel, the Sédunois delivered a similar performance against Wil. Thanks to three different goalscorers, Didier Tholot's men won 3-0. With their heads held high and their confidence boosted, the Sédunois head into the international break with confidence high.

The French coach made just one change at kick-off. Dejan Sorgic replaced Yassin Fortuné at the front. The striker was the first to threaten. In the 23rd minute, he just missed the target after Berdayes had headed in. A few minutes later, he was back in the St. Gallen box. From the edge of the penalty area, the number 9 found himself on the ground in the sixteen-yard box as he poked the ball over the keeper. The foul seemed obvious, except to Mr. Cibelli, who cautioned Sorgic. The Sédunois could have been frustrated by this decision. Instead, Kevin Bua struck from the angle of the sixteen-yard box to open the scoring (31st). FC Wil goalkeeper Nicholas Ammeter was reduced to a spectator.

By half-time, Sedun's advantage was well-deserved, and the visitors still hadn't managed a single shot on target. Bahloul was the only one to send a shiver down the spine with a missed shot. Timothy Fayulu had a very quiet evening. After the break, FC Sion even broke the deadlock with a marvellous move. Kevin Bua cleverly let in a cross from Sorgic. Number 33's run found Ilyas Chouaref alone in front of goal. The French striker finished perfectly. At 2-0 up and in total control, the scenario strongly resembled that experienced against Thun. Fortunately, the Sédunois learned from their mistakes and managed the match with great intelligence. They even made it 3-0 five minutes from time. Reto Ziegler converted an indirect free-kick in the box after the St. Gallen keeper had intercepted a back-pass.

FC Sion's last two matches were a complete success. Six goals scored, with six different scorers and, above all, no goals conceded. Beyond the shutouts, both Neuchâtel and Wil failed to register a single shot on target over the course of the ninety minutes. FC Sion's defensive solidity continues to underpin this well-oiled collective in which everyone pulls in the same direction. In the players' own words, Didier Tholot deserves much of the credit.

With this success, Sion have moved five points clear of FC Wil and are back at the top of the league ahead of FC Thun. Players and staff will now enjoy a few days off before returning to work during the international break. The next fixture is in Baden on Saturday, October 21.
