FC Sion went into the international break unbeaten, but trailing to the league's former bottom club. Didier Tholot's men were held 1-1 by FC Baden in Tourbillon, despite numerous chances in the opening minutes. After falling behind, the Valaisans came back to score thanks to Liam Chipperfield.

At kick-off, Didier Tholot changed his starting eleven for the first time this season. Berdayes and Bua were replaced by Chipperfield and Kabacalman. The start of the match was one-way traffic, with the Sédunois dominating the game, twice hitting the Aargau goalposts through Chouaref (4th) and Bouchlarhem (14th). At the end of the first quarter-hour, the Valais players deserved better than this scoreless draw. The last half-hour of the first half was still not enough for the home side to take the lead.

After the break, FC Sion were caught off guard by a corner. Wiskemann headed the ball into the back of the net. Fortunately for Didier Tholot's protégés, doubt did not have time to creep into their heads. Almost immediately, Chouaref was able to set up Chipperfield in the box. The young midfielder scored his second goal in two games to bring FC Sion level immediately. Despite a number of other situations, the Sédunois were unable to win against FC Baden.

At the end of the game, Didier Tholot was understandably disappointed: "We didn't play as a team tonight. We needed to make the difference as a team, not as individuals. We played a good first ten minutes. Fortunately, we got back on level terms straight away, otherwise it was going to be very complicated. This match once again confirms that the championship is difficult and that no match will be easy for us".

The French coach now has two weeks to prepare for Grasshopper's visit to the Swiss Cup on Friday September 15. Before that, the Sedun players will head off to the Vallée de Joux for a camp lasting a few days.
