With just a few hours to go before the Swiss Cup 1/4 final against YB, the media were invited to Leukerbad on Wednesday for the usual pre-match press conference. Valais captain Reto Ziegler spoke to reporters about his experience in this competition. Interview.

Reto Ziegler, is it good for the team to be together 36 hours before a big match?

"Personally, I think so. It gives us a chance to spend time together, talk about our opponents and the tactical concepts that go with them. The aim of these discussions is to be ready when we take to the field.

Does eliminating GC earlier this season boost your confidence?

"At the time, it gave us a lot of confidence. We didn't yet know how to gauge our group, and we had proof that we could beat a Super League team. Today is different. We're up against the league leaders. The confidence we can have doesn't come from the GC game, but rather from our recent good results."

You have fond memories of the Swiss Cup, as does your coach. Is that an asset for FC Sion?

"Yes, we're lucky to have a coach who knows the club and the importance of the Cup in Valais. Personally, I've had other experiences in this competition elsewhere in Switzerland. But this was different. It's magical to feel an entire canton behind you. You want to experience that kind of emotion.

Can FC Sion go all the way in this competition?

"We can't look that far ahead. We're up against a big team. We're not favourites, but we all want to win. In the Swiss Cup, anything is possible.

What will be the keys to the match?

"Didier is very good at spotting any weaknesses in an opponent. He prepares us for that. Having a serene coach gives the group positive energy. He gives us precise, individual instructions. In any case, it's going to be a match against a top-level team, who were playing in the European Cup a few days ago. Being solid would be a good start!
