The same old story. FC Sion were held to a draw in the dying moments of the game on Saturday evening. Ahead at half-time after a Ziegler penalty success, Didier Tholot's men conceded two goals in the second half before pulling level late on.

The facts

Despite a great chance for Liechtenstein in the 22ndminute and a Lavanchy save, it was the Sédunois who besieged their opponents' goal for the first 45 minutes of the match. Sorgic (33') and Chouaref (12' and 14') could have opened the scoring, but each time they came up against Büchel, who was at his best, or a tightly-knit defence.

It was not until the end of the first period that Sion took the lead. Lavanchy's shot from 16 yards was ill-advisedly saved by Reto Ziegler to make it 1-0. Ziegler wasted no time in opening the scoring for his 8th league goal of the season.

The second half was a more complicated affair for the Valaisans, who had to endure a series of attacks from the club from the Principality, but were unable to double their lead and secure a favourable result. On the contrary, it was FC Vaduz who enjoyed ten minutes of madness, with goals from Fosso (72') and Traber (81'). It looked as though the Valaisans were on the brink of defeat when Zagré won a cross from Rusev, aided by a deflection from Gelmi.

With this result, FC Sion remain top of the table, four points clear of FC Thun. The Sédunois, however, played one game more than their Bernese rivals.

Réactions

Reto Ziegler, FC Sion captain

"We didn't get into the game properly in the second half. I can't think of any immediate explanations, but we'll have to analyze the situation and ask ourselves the right questions. We can't afford to start the second half like that."

"I have to be honest, I could feel a Vaduz goal coming as the game wore on. We were too passive, we weren't winning enough duels and the Liechtensteiners were too free."

"It's not all doom and gloom. What's positive is that, once again, we showed that we'll never give up, right up to the end of the game. Of course, with the goal of going up, a point at home isn't enough."

"We now need to rest. Regain stability and solidity. We can't have blackouts for 20 or 30 minutes."
