FC Sion returned from their trip to Wil with a point. On the artificial turf of the LIDL Arena, the Valaisans were held to a draw without really being in danger for 90 minutes.

For the fourth time in succession, Didier Tholot fielded exactly the same eleven at kick-off. As early as the second minute, Timothy Fayulu had to intervene in a St. Gallen attempt. After that, the game became a real midfield battle, with a lot of duels and very few chances. The Valaisans were the more enterprising side, however, with Bouchlarhem (12th) and Théo Berdayes going close with a cross from Sorgic (13th). The biggest opportunity came just after the half-hour mark. Reto Ziegler rose higher than anyone else from a corner to head home. The St. Gallen defence was miraculously able to clear.

In the second half, Valais lacked the cutting edge to open the scoring. On the St. Gallen side, the situation was much the same. With the exception of set-pieces, the Valais defence had little to do. Once again, Didier Tholot's men had the best chance of the second half. Just before the final ten minutes, Théo Bouchlarhem had a chance to head in. Ammeter did well to block the young Frenchman's effort.

At the end of the game, Didier Tholot was torn between frustration and satisfaction: "We could have taken more than a point. We could have taken more than a point," he said. "But it's fine to be frustrated after taking a point away from home against a team that got off to a perfect start. It shows the kind of mentality we have and our constant desire to win. We could have handled certain situations better to win. But we would have signed up straight away for a start to the season like ours. With ten points from four games, FC Sion's points tally continues to climb and their run of clean sheets continues. This bodes well for the trip to Carouge in the first round of the Swiss Cup (Friday, 20:00).
