FC Sion confirm their good form in Tourbillon! Didier Tholot's men followed up their win over Aarau on Friday with a 4-1 victory over FC Baden. The Valais outfit remain top of the table.

The facts

There was no need to arrive late in Tourbillon. After just seven minutes of play, the Sédunois were already leading. Following a corner kick by Bua and a scramble in the sixteen-yard box, Chouaref broke free to put the ball back into the middle of the park. Ziegler was well positioned to head the ball past Spycher and set the game in motion.

Despite Valais' territorial dominance, it took until the 41st minute for Sion to double their lead. After a poor clearance from Sypcher, it was Ali Kabacalman who set up Chouaref and Bua for a fine combination from sixteen metres out. The latter fired past the Aargau keeper into the side-netting.

After tea, the Tourbillon side waited 11 minutes for Bouchlarhem's solo run to make it 3-0. It was the Frenchman's third goal for FC Sion in the last two matches. A few minutes later, despite being outnumbered ten to eleven, Aargau came back to within two points thanks to a Hanke strike. But that was not enough to unsettle the Valaisans, who sealed the points fifteen minutes from time thanks to the first goal of new recruit Georgi Rusev, who was well set up by Sorgic.

The win keeps FC Sion top of the table, four points behind FC Thun, who were held to a 1-1 draw at Schafhausen.

The reactions

Reto Ziegler, FC Sion defender and captain:

"It wasn't our best game of the season, but the most important thing is that we won. Overall, we can be satisfied. Scoring four goals isn't easy. We have to take it on board.

"It was important for us not to concede a goal. Unfortunately, I deflected a ball into the net. It's a bit frustrating, because we're working hard to remain the best defence in the league!"

"We know that set-pieces can make the difference, especially when we play against teams that have a low block."
