The English week continues for FC Sion with a trip to the canton of Geneva for the Swiss Cup Round of 16. Didier Tholot's men will be favourites to beat second-league club Onex. But they'll need to approach the game in the right way. Here's the preview!

LE FC SION

Having beaten Neuchâtel Xamax in the derby, the Sédunois have prepared as well as possible for tomorrow's match (20:30) against Onex in Meyrin. Didier Tholot's men were once again very solid defensively. FC Sion have now gone four games without conceding a goal. The last time they did so was on September 25 against FC Thun.

Tomorrow, this defensive solidity will also be important if they are to avoid any doubts. The Sédunois travel to Geneva as overwhelming favourites. After Étoile Carouge (Promotion League) and Grasshopper (Super League), the draw for this round of 16 is the most accessible since the start of the Swiss Cup campaign. However, the staff and the entire contingent are taking their preparations very seriously, as FC Onex are not here by chance.

LE FC ONEX

FC Onex is having a magnificent 2023. Promoted to the second league and winners of the Geneva Cup last June, Daniel Nieto's players are living out a dream that has been extended with this run in the Swiss Cup. It has to be said that, since the start of the competition, the Genevans have faced only opponents within their reach. In the first round, they defeated Genoliers-Begnins (2nd league) in extra time (0-1). In the round of sixteen, they overcame FC Greifensee (2nd league) 1-2.

Since the start of the season, the Onex players have been discovering a new league and seem to have acclimatized well, making a very good start to the year with six wins to two defeats (including one this weekend against Champel) and one draw. A record that has earned them third place in the standings. Daniel Nieto, coach of FC Onex, can count on a player in fine form: Rafael Almeida Marinho. The striker has scored 12 goals in 11 games. He scored all three of Geneva's goals in the Swiss Cup this season.
