Challenge League leaders FC Sion travel to Liechtenstein on Friday to take on FC Vaduz. With three wins in 2024 and a four-point lead over FC Thun, the Valais outfit will be looking to continue their winning run.

The context

FC Sion's record in 2024 is currently unblemished. Three wins, ten goals scored to just two conceded, and they are still top of the table. The Sédunois are coming off an emphatic 4-1 home win over FC Baden. The momentum is good: FC Sion have not lost in thirteen games!

The opponent

FC Vaduz announced on Monday that they had parted company with coach Martin Stocklasa. A few days later, the Principality club announced the name of his successor, Marc Schneider. A former player with FC Thun, FC Zürich and BSC Young-Boys, the native of Bern has worked in Germany, Belgium and with his parent club FC Thun. Marc Schneider, who has signed a contract at Rheinpark until 2025, will be tasked with taking FC Vaduz out of the danger zone. With 21 points in the standings, his team lost 1-0 to FC Wil last weekend.

The stakes

FC Sion's victory over FC Baden on Friday moved them four points clear of FC Thun in the standings. FC Thun face FC Aarau at the same time. For the "Red and Whites", the stakes remain unchanged from week to week: stay on course and stay in the lead. The Liechtenstein outfit, meanwhile, will be looking to move away from the bottom spot occupied by FC Baden.
