FC Sion (Football Club of Sion) was founded in 1909. Their first match was a perfect example of the essence of the club and the spirit of the players. Although less experienced than their opponents, Sion managed to overcome a two-goal halftime deficit to win 3-2.
Throughout its history, the club has known ups and downs, but never ceased to surpass itself in each of their games.
FC Sion also has an impressive track record:
In 2006, FC Sion became the first and only Swiss second division club to win the Swiss Cup.
Out of 14 finals, the club can boast 13 victories. Until 2017, it had the distinction of never having lost a Swiss Cup final.
In 2015, it won its international tournament of the Valais Cup (3rd edition) thanks to two victories against Shaktar Donetsk 3-2 and Olympique Lyonnais, 1-0.
